TECHNICAL TRAINING COURSES
METADATA
The purpose of this course is to understand and implement metadata standards as prescribed by Directive 2007/2/EC of the European Parliament on spatial data.
You will learn about the INSPIRE metadata Implementation rules and official technical guidelines based on EN ISO 19115 and EN ISO 19119 and their practical application.
GEOGRAPHIC DATA TYPES
Geographic data comes in many formats (and not just raster and vector!). This module is designed to introduce and show you how to manage them.
Data sets include text, elevation and temporal files. Specific examples are used and include GPS tracking, also covered are data resolution and accuracy issues.
GIS BASICS
This course covers the essentials of geographic information science and provides an understanding of how Geographic Information Systems work and how to use them effectively.
This is a foundation course which explains geographic data models, how data is stored and used within a GIS and how it can be used to solve problems. Specific examples are used, relevant to the attendees interests.
GIS ANALYSIS
This course introduces the potential of geographic analysis using GIS software to allow you to fully exploit your data.
Different GIS data models are described, and simple analysis techniques explained and demonstrated.
CARTOGRAPHY
The focus is on presentation techniques, and how to display your data effectively.
You will learn about the principles of designing geographic images, 2D and 3D images, and web publishing.
